Board Chairman, Youth Alive Foundation Africa
Ehizefua (Efua) Edeh is currently a Development Consultant, researcher, and public speaker who works to empower organizations institutionally, to advocate for change in democracy in their chosen thematic areas. Efua received her B.S. in Chemistry from Saint Xavier University, Chicago and her M.B.A. in Public Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management. In addition, she received a First Bank Sustainability Certificate from Lagos Business School, and a Social Sector Management Certificate from the Enterprise Development Center. Efua is also a founding member of the United Congress of Community and Religious Organizations. She has been a development professional for over 15 years. She served as Director of Outreach at Advance Illinois, an education policy think tank that provides awareness of the inequities in education.
Chairman
Dr. Ekom Akpan is an advocate for children/youths and a development practitioner who for the past 25 years is focused and very passionately involved in programs and activities geared towards children and youth development. He is presently the Executive Director, Save the Constellation of Children, STCC. Ekom has over the years hone competency skills in Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Social Change from reputable institutions like the Pan Atlantic University, (EDC), Lagos, Harvard University, USA, United State Institute of Peace, Peace Operation Training Institute, USA, Joseph C. Watts Family Center and Research Institute, USA. He is a fellow of Nigerian Lions Charity Foundation, Board Chairman, Youth Alive Foundation Africa, Board member, Friends of the Needy Organization, senior member of the world largest service organization, Lions Clubs International. He is the business consultant for Joseph C. Watts Family Center and Research Institute, USA.
Board Vice Chairperson
Madam Augusta Akparanta-Emenogu is a certified Media Practitioner and Capacity Building Expert with strong skills in participatory learning with over 20 years actively working in government and legislative engagement in different capacities; An experienced and development worker with over 10 years consulting experience in local and international development. Augusta has extensive experience in project management and coordination, organizational development as well as performance reporting. Worked independently in various job roles and led different teams across multiple themes/sectors sharing learning and providing effective proactive leadership approaches to problem-solving. With an enhanced knowledge of organizational learning on regional and social issues, Augusta possesses hands-on experience in budget and program management, portfolio review and evaluation, gender advocacy, community, and social mobilization, as well as policy influencing work. She is the present Board Vice Chairperson of Youth Alive Foundation Africa.
Board Treasurer
Dr. Etim Frank holds a first degree from the University of Jos, Plateau State. An M.Sc. International Relations, University of Port Harcourt, M.Sc. Public Administration, University of Uyo, a PhD from University of Calabar, Sustainable Development- Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI)- the State of Israel. He had worked in both the Public and the Private sector of Nigeria economy. He belongs to several academic associations. He is a civil society activist, and on the board of many Civil Society Organizations including, Women United for Economic Empowerment (WUEE) Citizens’ Right Initiatives (CRI) and Centre for Development Research Enlightenment and Advocacy (CDREA) and the Board Treasurer of Youth Alive Foundation Africa. He has presented several public lectures on National and international issues.
Board Secretary
Ms Ramat Umoru is a financial management and accounting professional with 10 years of experience in grant management, including organization, research, administration, and close-out. Competent manager of resources and grant processes. She is currently the Senior Grants Account Officer at Marie Stopes International Organization Nigeria. She provides budgeting and reporting support to the programme team for project implementation. She also works with the finance team to ensure proper coding with close coordination of budget heads. She was appointed by the Edo State Government into the Board of Edo State Community and Social Development Project (EDO-CSDP) with funding from World Bank and the Edo State Government. She has ten years’ experience familiar with the reporting requirements of several donors including DFID, Palladium, LAD, USAID, UNDP, CHAI, UNFPA, British Council (J4A, FOSTER), EED now Bread for the World and Royal Norwegian Embassy among others. She is the Board Secretary of Youth Alive Foundation Africa.

Professor Usman Muhammad Shu’aib LLB (BUK); LLM (BUK); LLM (Essex, UK); Ph D (ABU; Is a professor of law with over 2 decades of experience in the academia, legal practice and community service. Usman is a Co-founder of Funtua Community Foundation for Health Education, an NGO that develops and implements skills acquisition and relief outreach programs for female health workers in Northern Nigeria. He is an alumnus of Ford Foundation International Fellowship Program and prominent among the youth opinion leaders in Northern Nigeria. Professor Usman is currently the Dean of Law, Bayero University, Kano and National President of National Association of Law Teachers (NALT). He is a board member of Youth Alive Foundation Africa.

Josephine Ogazi is the Founder/Executive Director and Chairperson of the Senior Management Team for WEWE. She is a development professional with over 30 years of working experience. Twenty (20) years of her work experience has been in domestic and international resource mobilization and organizational development (OD) of civil societies in Nigeria. Josephine has a PhD and M.Sc. in Agronomy and a B.Sc. in Chemistry, all from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State. She is a certified management consultant with Institute of Directors (IoD) Nigeria. Josephine’s leadership skills were gained while working as a Nigeria Country Director/Country representative for three international organizations and Chief of Party (COP) for three USAID funded projects. She is currently a Board member of Youth Alive Foundation Africa.

Mrs. Adaku Ekpo has 17 years of experience working with non-profit organizations in the areas of agriculture, youth development, rural livelihoods, and promoting the rule of law. She currently manages a 50-hectare intercropped oil palm plantation while working as a consultant providing capacity strengthening to intergovernmental organizations and non-profits. She has also served as a board member and a member of the senior leadership team with a few non-profit organizations in the U.S and Nigeria. Adaku has a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Political Science from Warren Wilson College, North Carolina; a Juris Doctor in Law from The Ohio State University; and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Pennsylvania. She is currently a Board member of Youth Alive Foundation Africa.

Madam Ene Ede was the former National VAAP coordinator domiciled in NAPTIP. Ene has presented and contributed to many papers at different fora within and outside Nigeria. Papers covering a diverse range of issues including the Twelve Critical Areas of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPFA). A public policy analyst who believes in all-inclusive good governance as a necessary condition for sustainable development and lasting peace in Nigeria. Having worked with several newspapers, she subsequently published The Woman Today Newspaper – dedicated to highlighting issues that are relevant to women. Her life’s vision is to see women fulfill the five creative mandates with determination, ease and without man-made obstacles. She is a board member of Youth Alive Foundation Africa.

Dr. Udy Akpan (PhD) is the current Executive Director at Youth Alive Foundation Africa. She is a seasoned development practitioner with over 20 years’ experience. She has a PhD in ICT for Development from the University of London and an MSc from London School of Economics in Information Systems Management. She has worked as a consultant with international development agencies such as the World Bank, African Development Bank and UNICEF. In 2002 she co-founded Youth Alive Foundation; a youth focused NGO aimed at redefining the role and contribution of Nigerian youths in the governance and development processes in the country. She has been a member of the ICT4D Collective at Royal Holloway, University of London (UNESCO Chair in ICT4D) since 2007. She is a Professional Member, British Computer Society; an Associate Member, Higher Education Academy, UK and Member, Association of Project Management, UK. She has drawn funding from top donors like DFID, European Union, Commonwealth Foundation, Ford Foundation, USAID, to mention a few. Her incredible leadership is impacting thousands of Nigerian youths. She is also an ex officio Board member of Youth Alive Foundation Africa.
